Fylde Election Results May 2019

Election Results 2019The Fylde Borough vote was counted on Friday 3rd May.

After a night of pain for the national Conservatives and Labour parties who reaped the whirlwind of deep resentment and public anger regarding  Brexit,  the stage was set for Independents and Liberal Democrats to do well at Fylde at the expense of the major parties.

At the start of the count, there were downcast expressions above blue rosettes, and something similar for red rosettes as well

As the count to verify the number of papers in the box to the number of  ballot papers issued got under way, early rumours swirled, senior conservatives were under threat, Independents were expected to do amazing gains.

But in the end, whilst there were a couple of surprises, overall the result was, proportionately, mostly the same, with just a slight dent in the Conservative overall majority, and Labour losing it's one previous seat in Central Ward. It was a day when a few names changed, but mostly (with a couple of exceptions), the challenger insurgency we had spotted didn't quite make it across the line. Some individuals missed being elected by very small margins. A candidate with 630 votes in Lytham's Clifton ward missed being elected by just 5 votes!

In a few weeks, when the dust has settled a bit, we'll do our usual analysis of what the changes might mean for Fylde. But for the moment we bring you the raw actual results. They are:
